Crackers shop margin: what a shop really earns
Every box has a printed MRP far above the trade rate. Very few shops sell at full MRP, so plan your margin on a discounted selling price.
MRP is a ceiling, not the price
Cracker MRPs are printed high. Shops compete by offering a discount on MRP, often a large one. Your real margin is the gap between our rate and the price you actually sell at, not the printed MRP.
A simple way to plan
- Take our rate per box as your cost.
- Add your share of GST (if not claiming credit), transport and stall costs.
- Decide the discount off MRP you will offer, based on what nearby shops do.
- The difference is your margin per box.
Where the margin is
Sparklers and flower pots sell in volume on a thin margin per box. Multi-shot cakes, sky shots and gift boxes sell fewer boxes but earn more per box. A good mix carries both.
